Following participating in the design of Tori Tori Temistocles, after yet again Héctor Esrawe and Michel Rojkind have been invited to collaborate in the advancement of the project for the new branch restaurant at the south of Mexico City.
The major influences for this task are based mostly on the expression of brutalist architecture, as effectively as historic architecture carve and mountains.
Situated within a industrial plaza in the San Angel neighborhood, the space consists of two ranges: the very first currently being a narrow interior that connects through a stairway with the 2nd level and the green areas of its terrace. The sensation when coming into the room is conditioned by a meticulous game of height variations in the marble ceiling. This provokes a sense of compression and continuity, comparable to accessing a cave.
The marble ceiling descends till it virtually reaches the floor in buy to receive the spiral staircase that connects the ground floor with the terrace. To the right side there is a sushi bar that enables the user to see the chef’s hands when preparing the sushi by way of the reflective characteristics of the large polished brass ceiling. On the other side lies a continuous seat with an art piece of artist Marco Rountree on the wall.
The upper floor is surrounded by green locations the sensation is fully open and extroverted, enabling the consumer to observe the treetops of neighboring homes, a characteristic trait of the neighborhood. Nevertheless, the memory of the preceding knowledge is mirrored through the ground level modifications covered in the exact same materiality of the preceding marble area.
